I am a privacy lawyer, speaker, writer & consultant who’s passionate about Privacy by Design, privtech, Data Justice & Indigenous Data Sovereignty, especially in emerging tech areas such as biotech, AI, and adtech. I help clients across a range of sectors navigate complex privacy regimes like the GDPR, Quebec’s Law 25 & the EU AI Act, with a focus on human-centred design.
I was working in the UK helping a portfolio of SMEs implement GDPR when the Cambridge Analytica broke. Privacy Commissioners had uncovered how adtech was being exploited to micro-target disinformation and voter dissuasion in an effort to interference in the US election. The work I was doing for “compliance” and its important role in protecting democracy and personal autonomy became very real, and I started to pay closer attention to this growing threat.
I have guest lectured on various data privacy matters at universities in the UK & Canada, including Henley Business School & University if Toronto’s School of Continuing Education. In addition to being a Forbes.com Contributor, I am a Correspondent for Privacy Laws & Business, the UK’s longest-running privacy publication.
