With over 25 years in national security and Canadian law enforcement, Neil Bisson has established a remarkable career across nearly two decades at the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and 10 years with the Canada Border Services Agency.
During his time in the Canadian federal government, Neil held top-level security clearances and worked extensively both domestically and internationally—with his expertise spanning counterterrorism, counter-proliferation, and counterintelligence.
Contributing significantly to the intelligence cycle, Neil specialized in threat identification, source management, and the preparation of security reports for government agencies. He also excelled in surveillance, counter-surveillance, source protection, and conducting clandestine meetings in diverse settings.
Today, as the Director of the Global Intelligence Knowledge Network, Neil publishes content with the objective of enhancing the public’s (and intelligence enthusiasts’) understanding of key issues including foreign interference, the use of cryptocurrency by terrorist groups, intelligence leaks, and the strategies employed by intelligence professionals.
In addition to his writing, Neil produces and hosts the Global Intelligence Weekly Wrap-up podcast; and co-hosts the Spies Like Us podcast. He is also a sought-after media commentator on intelligence issues, frequently appearing on CBC’s The National, CTV National News, and various radio programs across Canada.
In 2022, Neil earned his IBM Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate.
